Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome messages from Dr Debbie Bailey -Executive Headteacher & Stephen Garside -Interim Headteacher.

Dr Debbie Bailey – Executive Headteacher

I’m delighted to have taken on the role of Executive Headteacher for Lea Hall Academy. I will be working closely with our interim Headteacher, Stephen Garside. Together, we will ensure that Lea Hall provides great opportunities for learning for all our pupils. We want to see all of our students making good progress and feeling proud of themselves.

Forward Education Trust is determined that every Lea Hall pupil will experience success at school and is committed to providing support and resources for the school. My extra time in school is part of that support but we have also managed to access specialist support from providers of speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and family support. The Trust will continue to develop the facilities at Lea Hall to make sure that individual pupils needs are met.

Prior to taking on my role in the Trust, I led special schools for pupils with SEMH in different parts of the country. I don’t pretend to be an expert, but I do have many years of experience of supporting young people to manage their own behaviour and to enjoy their learning.  Our school vision is for safe, happy learners! My view is that this happens when pupils have good relationships with staff and with each other. This is a key part of our on-going school developments.

We also want pupils to have fun while they learn – that’s also about relationships and about staff really knowing pupils. We want our pupils to feel safe enough to “have a go” at learning even when it’s challenging. We want to build their resilience at the same time as developing their skills.

We know that our pupils come from families who care about them very much, but also find them challenging at times. Our staff are always keen to work alongside families and carers. It is by working together that our pupils will have the very best chance of success in the future.

If you have any questions about Lea Hall, please do contact us through the school office.
